Another big truck for the Gadgetmangroove records!!
Grooved a 1997 Ford F-250 with a 460 engine. This pickup had a dual port throttle body, meaning you have to do two grooves on it. The temps really dropped and vehicle runs much smoother. I suggested to Barry the owner that the IAC needs to be replaced because it was causing the idle to stay high all the time. The temps: Exhaust manifold temps, before 460, after 338 degrees Water 188, after 159 degrees Tailpipe 128, after 110 degrees Catalytic converter pre 380, after 320 post 248, after 183 Truck much smoother and gained great horsepower. I have special interest in this case as I have the same truck and engine which I am looking to groove. Please report the mileage factors and any other engine modifications.
This 460 has header exhaust and banks ram air top on air box. It get from 11-14, with 11.75 being the average MPG. This the before the groove mileage. Thanks Warren |

Cool Beans, Aron! Quick question If the IAC was staying on or open causing a high idle RPM...is the idle smooth anyway. Have you seen this IAC issue on other Fords?

There were no other mods, and I suggested replacing the iac , and now as I get further educated on vaccuum leaks, this could have been also caused by a leaky intake manifold gasket or brake booster also.
Sorry, I have not heard of results on mileage, but he did like the way it ran. Keep in mind all this pickup does is pull a trailer or push snow in the winter. |
