How should we be determining the bit size for a particular intake.

Do we use the largest bit that won't break through the outer wall of the throttle body?

Karl,

to my understanding, the bigger, the better...as long as it fits. The main limitation is the width. You must carve the whole groove in the throttle body. The depth of the grove can be corrected with JB Quick. We can make the throttle body thicker, (in certain limits...) but we can not make it longer!(an adapter plate will do that!)

Hi Karl. Welcome. As Titus said, use the biggest bit possible, within reason. It is alright if you get a couple places where the bit breaks through, but not along the whole length of the groove. It is best if you can determine ahead of time where it may break through and build it up before you groove. The more you do, the more you'll know. Make sure you adequately prepare the epoxy surface before you apply it. If you need any more help, feel free to give me a call.
